The Crouches is a sitcom that aired on BBC One between 2003 and 2005, starring Rudolph Walker. Other main cast members were Robbie Gee and Jo Martin. Walker played Robbie Gee's father, and Mona Hammond, who played Jo's mother. The show was not well received by critics and only two series were made. It ratings were moderate, attracting an average of 3 million viewers. Childhood sweethearts Roly Crouch and Natalie have been married for 18 years. Roly works at for the London Underground at Lambeth North as a Station Assistant. Roly has two best mates, Ed and Bailey. Bailey, who is portrayed by Don Warrington is his boss, and Ed, who is portrayed by Danny John-Jules is also a station assistant. Ed is married to Lindy. Their relationship is rocky, and even when Lindy chucks him out of the house at times, he still thinks that she loves him and that it is her way of expressing her love to him. Natalie used to be in a rap duo with best mate Lindy, who is portrayed by Llewella Gideon, called "Bun and Cheese". Nat said they wanted to be Britain's answer to Salt-n-Pepa, but their musical career didn't take off despite Roly's support. She now manages a discount store in Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre and longs for some sophistication in her life.

Episode 1 - Trainers
Release Date: 2003-09-09Adele has plans to see her 'businessman' boyfriend, Dennis. But her dad, Roly, isn't happy about this, and neither is mum, Natalie: they both think Dennis is a terrible influence on her. After much persuading from Adele, Dennis is invited round to the family home for dinner, but things dont go to plan. Natalie buys Aden some new trainers, as a thankyou for the help he has been doing round the house. Aiden isnt convinced by the fact they are the wrong brand and proceeds to deface them! As a punishment, he is ordered to wear the defaced trainers to school by his father, Roly. This leads to some trouble from Aiden's friends and when it all gets nasty, only one person can help - Adele's boyfriend Dennis.

Episode 2 - School's Out
Release Date: 2003-09-16Natalie is excited about the school reunion disco, but her plans are quashed when Roly refuses to go with her, he wont ellobarote on why but remains certain he wont go. Grandpa's big mouth gets him in trouble - after one quib too many at dinner he is banished to his bedroom by Roly, but he doesnt appreciate the move and leaves, finding shelter at a men's hostel. Meanwhile, Adele is having troubles of her own looking for a job after being told to do so by Natalie.

Episode 3 - Uncle Sonny
Release Date: 2003-09-23A unexpected and inpromptu visit from Uncle Sonny is a little more than they can cope with. Not being the easiest of house guests Roli wants him out, but when he tries to get through to Sonny he and Natalie decide to ask Grandpa Langley to 'Have a word' with him. But it doesnt go well and instead of moving out, Sonny takes Grandpa's bedroom and even chats up his women! (Eileen from the Bowling Club). Things take an unexpected turn for the worse again when Uncle Sonny brings a goat into the house. Natalie makes a desperate call to Grandma Sylvie, who is having a bad time of it in Devon with her irritating cousin Janet, and the call for help from home is a great way for her to make her excuses and leave...

Episode 4 - Heat
Release Date: 2003-09-30When Grandma returns home to the cold - there is a price to pay for her services, in the shape of a massive heating bill! Roly isnt amused. Afraid of being a burden, Grandma leaves that night and checks into a Retirment Home. The family go to visit her. Grandma admits to being really happy in her new home, but the family have thier suspicions its just a facade. Latest events cause a huge row between Natalie and Roley - Nat wants her mother back home but Roly wont compromise.

Episode 5 - Join the Dots
Release Date: 2003-10-07After 18 years of married life, Natalie wants more excitment in her life. When the handsome Reverend Garstang arrives at her work place inviting her to his service, she has a serious dilemma. Does she stay at home and sort out her mairage or go to the service, after a chat with her friend Lynsey she decides to speak to Rev. Garstang about her problem, and she gets more than a good listening to. Meanwhile, Roly's boss Bailey advises him to ditch his family, but its not quite what he wanted to hear. And Grandpa has to face up to a dark truth from his past.

Episode 6 - Test
Release Date: 2003-10-14Determined to inject some class into her life, Natalie is very tempted when her new friend Rev. Garstang invites her to a classical music concert. Despite Roly's obvious dislike towards it, and her friend Lindy's warnings, Natalie decides to go anyway. The date goes terribly wrong when Roly decides to take matters into his own hands to save his marriage and to confront Reverend Garstang, but he bottles out. Grandpa gets jelous too when Grandma meets a new male friend.
