From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Richard Samuel Attenborough, Baron Attenborough (pronounced /ˈætənbərə/), CBE (born 29 August 1923) is a British actor, director, producer and entrepreneur. As director and producer he won two Academy Awards for the 1982 film Gandhi. He has also won four BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globes. As an actor, he is perhaps best known for his roles in The Great Escape, Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel. He is the older brother of naturalist and wildlife filmmaker Sir David Attenborough.
