Alex Garcia Mallarini (He/Him) is an award-winning film director native from New York City but raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. Known for his gritty, evocative and atmospheric style he has found a way of intertwining it with profound human expressions. Emerging from a commercial world working as an Art Director for various big ad agencies, it was a very rewarding experience, but his true passion was always in film and photography, making the jump into the production world. With a mentality of learning-by-doing, he acknowledge the importance of constantly being a student of the craft. Alex’s work has been recognized in various international film festivals and recently won the award for “Best Male Director” in Amsterdam’s, Atlantic Bridge Festival, with the film “A Traveler’s Guide to Happiness”(2020); which has also been selected in 13 other festivals. His latest work includes “The Female Side Effect” (2024) and “Melody of a Sorrow Heart” (2022). Driven by a desire to disrupt traditional narratives and challenge conventional thinking, his goal is to disrupt and create conversations with visuals, making audiences think within the deepest parts of themselves, leaning on his mantra: “Create Beautiful Chaos.” His clients praise his attention to detail and the various ways of making a story bold and relevant, but also still have that degree of humanity that grounds you in that world. Alex currently resides in beautiful Barcelona, where he continues to spark the commercial and film world, while working on upcoming feature film projects.
